My last post on movie releases helped me to coordinate some movie theatre goings with friends. So it makes sense that I do another for the 2017 summer season.
There's a pile of big blockbusters coming out that I haven't listed below, stuff like the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, the "Mummy" remake, and the new MCU-connected "Spider-man" film. This doesn't mean I'm not interested in seeing them (they all look like they could be popcorn fun), it just means, if I had to choose, I'd rather not miss these four specifically...
Alien: Covenant
Release Date: May 19, 2017."Prometheus" was flawed film, but it was a Ridley Scott film, so at least it was very pretty to look at. From what I hear, "Alien: Covenant" might have all the same pros and cons. But I do live me my xenomorphs, so I'm likely to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
Encore Date: May 27, 2017. A National Theatre Live special event starring Daniel Radcliffe, Joshua McGuire, and David Haig. I haven't seen the 1990 classic film in a long time, but I remember liking it a lot. Didn't know about this performance the first time it came around, so I'm happy to see another becoming available!
Wonder Woman
Release Date: June 2, 2017.Oh wow, we're finally getting a Wonder Woman film. DC universe films have been more miss than hits the past couple years. I'm crossing my fingers because I really want this not to suck.
Baby Driver
Release Date: June 28, 2017.Its a comedy crime thriller directed by Edgar Wright. That alone puts in on my want-to-see list. You throw in people like Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx into the mix, and I'll be going in with high hopes for this one!
Atomic Blonde
Release Date: July 28, 2017.I'd never heard anything about this film until I saw its trailer a short while ago. Its got Charlize Theron in it and its got a "John Wick" feel to it... which shouldn't be surprising, as it has one of that film's directors directing it.
RiffTrax Live: Doctor Who
