HCC 30: LNH v2 #50

"The Challenge from Before" by Adrian J. McClure Click here to read HCC 30: LNH v2 #50
In honor of the LNH's 20th anniversary, and the fact that with all the other things we're doing on and off RACC we'd never get it done any other way, I declare LNH v2 #50 the next High-Concept Challenge. The due date is a month from now, unless it somehow gets finished earlier. I've written about the basic ideas I have in mind for this on the

Derek Radner's Private Journal #7

"Conquerors" by Dave Van Domelen Click here to read Derek Radner's Private Journal #7
[Private Journal of Derek Radner - December 2, 2017] (underlined)Conquerors As I give more thought to villainy, I can see that some world conquering sorts count as "true" villains, while others don't. And while I can certainly go down the list of the worldbeaters and slot them into my existing

HCC #29

"results - Writefail!" by Dave Van Domelen Click here to read HCC #29
Congrats to Adrian, it was a close race, but RACCCafe: Writefail won! Dave Van Domelen, mentally worked up a taxonomy of conquerors while out shopping this afternoon and might eventually turn it into a Derek Radner's Journal entry.

The Cat Lady #4

"(of 4)" by Martin Phipps Click here to read The Cat Lady #4
The Cat Lady #4 (of 4) Fido Mikey walked up to the Cat Lady’s door and knocked. The Cat Lady opened the door and saw Mikey holding up a cute little Yorkshire Terrier puppy. “Please, Ma’am,” he said. “Our dog just had six puppies. Could you please take one? We can’t take care of seven dogs.”

The Super Wizard From Space #31

"To Hell And Hell And Hell And Hell And Hell And Back Again, Part 7" by Click here to read The Super Wizard From Space #31
Black glass and brittle shale and oddly shaped boulders all bashed against each other in the tornado ferocity of the space between conceptual realities. Every small piece was both nonexistant and an immense solidity to itself, dragging and throwing and colliding with its surroundings as the entire mess fell through infinite layers of fractal

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for... An Important Public Service Announcement ******* Billy looked into the palm of his hand and then closed it. Into the Tumblrverse!

by Andrew Perron
Hwaet! I have created a link for the Legion into the greater Internet: [link] I'm planning to post stories one chapter per day, posting full arcs and skipping between series, in an order that will ease people into the universe while showing off its breadth and depth. I'm wondering, though: Would it be okay, ethically speaking, to repost

Sports in RACC

by Rick Hindle
An avid sports fan, I've fallen into enjoying text-based sports simulators. These include (but by far not limited to) Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP), and Pro Football Simulator (PFS). It's gotten me thinking about something: has anyone else mentioned a sports team in their RACC writing, whether as a plot device, a minor biographical bit, or even as a throw away?

LNH wiki RACCCafe article

by Adrian J. McClure
I just put together a rudimentary article on RACCCafe together with a list of every single character and writer who's ever appeared in it, as I read every RACCCafe story in between bouts of writing my paper: [link] I'm not sure how useful it is, considering I dont' know who half these

Newsreaders of the 21st Century

by Andrew Perron
So, I have a question for the group: What's a good Windows newsreader that's still being updated? All the ones I've been looking up are either Mac-only or unnervingly focused on downloading binaries. I've been using 40tude Dialog, but it hasn't been updated since 2005, so... Andrew "NO .SIG MAN" "Juan" Perron, not condusive.

Powernaut Coming Attractions

by Scott Eiler
Since December (five months ago), I've put out four Powernaut series. I've identified *twenty-six* more Powernaut series I could eventually draw. This counts sequels; I've figured out four sequels apiece for the 1955 and 2005 series. So I've come to the realization that even if I come up with no more plot

About those sub-basements

by Adrian J. McClure
Where did the idea that the LNHQ sub-basements go infinitely deep and are full of Weird Stuff come from? That's always been one of my favorite LNH tropes. I've read about the first year's worth of LNH stories now and they haven't broached that issue yet.

Three Metaphors for Superhero Teams

by Tom Russell
When I first started writing superhero fiction, I didn't know what I was doing (which anyone who was unfortunate enough to read that fiction can easily attest). Part of the problem is that while I (thought I) knew a lot about the genre, I didn't know a whole lot about human beings, and the genre is (like all the best genres)

LNH v20 #50!

by Adrian J. McClure
So it's still pretty near to our anniversary, and LNH #50 is close at hand. A while back I had the idea of doing this as a collaborative jam issue. Well, I just got inspired, so I'll post the first scene that I came up with on the writer's group as soon as i finish some more of this blasted paper. I figure we could write it there the way we did

How Much To Write About (say) Ketchikan?

by Scott Eiler

The 'Anyone who has ever read alt.comics.lnh or RACC post here!' Thread...

by Arthur Spitzer
As I wait for April 29th to come... Okay, there's probably never going to be a time when every single person who has ever read alt.comics.lnh and rec.arts.comics.creative will be in the same room in the real world because everyone is so far apart (and a lot of people just don't have the money to travel to some location).

What I Did This Weekend Instead of Write Comics

by Scott Eiler
I did draw a few cartoons (for publication next weekend), though. It's cool to sit in a pub and do that, as long as you're in Seattle. But mostly I just wrote a travelog episode for my blog. [link] My blog actually had a crossover with the Powernaut back in 2005. He
