Coherent Super Stories #36
"Time Critical Mission"
An Academy of Super-Heroes [ASH] story {HCC49}
by Dave Van Domelen

"Dave writes yet another fun exploration of a high-concept situation,
paired with a interesting doubly-metafictional conceit. We've all seen
the characters who only show up in licensed stuff, but the placement of
Paladin 'inbetween' the in-character world of ASH and the actual real
world is a bit of meta weirdness that reminds you that he was a huge
architect of that aspect of the LNH."

Legion of Net.Heroes Volume 2 #59
"The Dead Zone"
A Classic Legion of Net.Heroes [LNH] story {HCC48}
by Saxon Brenton

"This is a pretty fascinating urban-horror-y story which ends kind of
abruptly - but then, it was written and finished quickly, so that's
cool. More pertinently is that a certain Mister Brenton *could* have
made it an issue of Looniverse Chronicles. Not that I'm bothered or
anything. Sniff. Hmph."

Mighty Medley #10
"Venting the Cybercore", "Wetwork" Part 2 of 2, "Beyond the
Fields" Part
10, "Seven 'Gainst Thebes" Part 9, and "The Hourly Report"
An Eightfold [8FOLD] anthology
by Andrew Perron, Tom Russell, and Saxon Brenton

"I don't talk about Mighty Medley enough, I think - usually because I'm
part of it. But everyone else's contributions deserve to be highlighted
too!"

"'Wetwork' is an entirely successful structural exercise, getting inside
the mechanics of an action scene, spreading it out in front of you
moment-to-moment. 'Beyond the Fields' has been one of Saxon's trademark
exercises in worldbuilding, getting inside an idea instead, stretching
it out, twisting it around, and ruining it as formal wear. 'Seven
'Gainst Thebes' is a thoughtful take on the Old West, and features an
especially good cliffhanger this issue."

"And Wil... Wil is consistently delightful. Wil is excellent at taking a
basic idea and spinning details and flourishes out of it. The things
that are implied by his story go way beyond the page. This is how a
one-page story should be."

Powernaut 1944 #8-9
"Power Stars starring The Secret Commando!" and "Power Stars starring
Zenobia!"
A Superhuman World [SW10/WWW] webcomic
by Scott Eiler

"Scott brings back Powernaut 1944, showing us the adventures of
different characters in Superhuman World War II! Though 1944 often
crosses in the Golden Ages of different continuities, these first two
are from within the Superhuman World."

"The narrative of the Secret Commando departs from the usual for the
Power Stars, as he becomes a rumor shared between two other soldiers. I
like this - it makes the 'secret'-ness feel more real, and the reference
to the Civil War fits the era well. (Though the reference to Amazons is
confusing - doesn't quite fit the type of story they're telling, and
also feels like something that needs expanded on in any case.)"

"Zenobia is just straightforwardly great - just the kind of person you
want to find in a history book. I'm looking forward to the spinoff!"

Red Hart #7-9
"Their Darkest Hour", "The Hero, Born of Woman", and "Deorum Et
Machina"
An Eightfold [8FOLD] miniseries
by Tom Russell

"This is seriously my favorite thing that Tom has ever done."

"I love the sheer scope of bringing in an alien scientist who doesn't
even know about carbon-based life, let alone Earth. (Except for what
seems like a hint at an Orphans of Mars-era link.) I love the
stage direction [Exeunt via a pocket universe.] I love the over-the-top
indulgence in things that could never appear in a stage play. I love the
spoilerous transformation of characters. I even love that he totally
used a climactic idea that I wanted to use elsewhere, and it's so good I
might end up using it anyway."

"I recommend this miniseries to everyone ever."

Ripping Off King Arthur #208-211
A webcomic [WWW] series
by Arthur Spitzer

"I just want to say, I love how utterly disappointed the FBI agent
posing as Triv Totally looks in the second-to-last panel of #209.
Fantastic."
