As usual, you can view all my posted sketches at my Flickr site.
Heading into NaNoWriMo, I was really starting to like this western-sheriff-witch idea, and was playing around with both her personality and her clothes (in this case, trying a cape and/or a trenchcoat). Also, in the bottom right corner, a start on my hourly comic.
More of Molly, though in this case, I started to doodle one of her antagonists, a mummy with a shotgun. Winnipeg’s fall comic-book convention had just finished up, as well, but that didn’t stop me from trying my hand at sketching out it’s mascot, Ms C4.
Met a friend at the Fyxx on Broadway, and we had a good time chatting and doodling. The Kirby-esque symbol was our brainstorm of a Captain Marvel character that uses Fourth World gods for his magic word... hear that DC? If we see this awesome concept show up in the funny pages, I better also see a cheque :P
I did not make the fifty thousand word mark for 2009’s NaNoWriMo (to be honest, I didn’t even make 10K), but that didn’t stop me from roughing out ideas for a sequel, Betty Blacklist. Was playing around with giving her a more of a stage magician look instead. I also had a place to put in the tea-witch character into this possible sequel, but if I ever get that far, I’d have to ask her creator’s permission first.
A couple more witch and mummy sketches, but also some Conan inspired images. I was watching both Barbarian and Destroyer, as it was -30 or -40 outside and didn’t want to leave the warmth of my apartment!
More images of my little barbarian king and his plucky wizard associate. I’m really liking them... so much so that if I stumble upon a couple good names for them, I might have to web-comic them up!
